A counselor will keep this in mind before referring their patient to the group. One on one therapy can always be helpful in the initial stages.

One on one counseling can be helpful, but group therapy can also be something to consider at a later stage. This is something that many people have learned a lot from because of the other members in the groups who they connect with. It is important to hear what others in the same position have to say about their stories because it makes you less isolated as you begin to become more motivated.
