The Ancient Tradition Of Performing Yagya Ritual

By Henry Peterson

Faith is a powerful thing that can turn the spirit of a human being, it is either from lacking knowledge or getting enlightened. But it can also be a flaw that if exploited by anyone, it can make even the most decent individual commit bad things that an individual is not willing to do. Religion, for example, plays the most vital part on this subject as it has more people involved in separate beliefs resulting into many arguments.

Beliefs existed a long time ago, going from different tribes having a variety of culture and tradition that in they believe is true. In this case, Yagya or in other term yajna is a performed by the ancient Vedic yagyas to create positive effects and unwanted effects in the different parts of life. The word itself literally means sacrifice, devotion, worship, offering a tradition referred by Hinduism as anything done before a sacred fire often with mantras.

It is an act of giving up any objects before gods. The ritual is performed by an appointed sacred being whose job is to save the lives of mankind. Offerings on this tradition are mostly food and plants or animals anything that the community is accepted far from what an individual would imagine when hearing the offering, overtures such as juice of a soma plant, mixed milk, cake, pulse, an animal and many other things.

Their ritual is believed to help an individual in regards to its wealth, health, evolution, and harmony. Today, there with the massive information on the internet, there sites that offer services that gives this ritual to who is intrigued in trying it. Some say it can future life events of an individual, with this, necessary yagyas are suggested in order to restore or maintain balance in a life of a person.

Founded on basic principles like having faith in god, similar to other religions and traditions. Appreciating and living in harmony with the environment and nature, that is why their community is close to nature and have different rituals performed in many areas of the forests where they reside. This is where myths and legends come to life, because of these beliefs stories about their gods are told.

Offerings tossed on the fire are oblations towards the god of fire and messenger of gods, Agni. The stories told that Agni take the offerings to gods, and in return, their prayers will be answered. It is an exchange spiritually between the supreme divine beings and human beings in a form of fire.

This kind of tradition is considered ancient and others might find it preposterous to perform such activity to be able to get answers from your prayers. However, it is somewhat close to what modern civilization do in terms of their beliefs and culture. It may vary from several people and such exercise might look odd to someone who is not used to the ritual, but the purpose is the same.

Yet, there are people who do not believe in this kind of beliefs or in any particular religion. They believe the human evolution and the principle of cause and effect that will direct the path of an individual regarding of its actions. Difficult for them to rely on such principles that are uncertain and unproven by science.

Facts from science, and faith through religion, interesting that these two completely repel each other yet they are both essential. In order to have a better understanding of human being traditions are there to stand as the basis of life, and to be able to evolve, science is the way to develop mankind. An ancient tradition like yagya is important to the society to have a better understanding as long as it serves for good reasons.
