Great Ways To Make Fitness Work For You

By Jan Mahirni

Let's start off by reminding ourselves that staying in shape is sometimes not easy or fun. That doesn't diminish the fact that staying fit is an important part of staying healthy. The good news is, there's something out there everyone can do to get fit. All that's required is a bit of time and effort. It might even be fun.

If you are a bit older, or not as mobile as other people then go ahead and make your own garden. People are shocked at how much work gardening really is. For example, a garden requires weeding, digging and a lot of squatting. Gardening is one of the best hobbies to help get you in shape.

Develop a fitness log that lists the exercises that you completed throughout your day. Use it to keep track of each type of exercise you do and the length of time for each. Invest in a pedometer so you can track your steps throughout the day and add that information in as well. A written record helps you easily track your progress while working toward your goal.

A simple and speedy way to increase your leg strength by doing wall sits. You should begin with a wall space that is wide enough for your body to fit and that allows you to safely do the move. Position yourself approximately eighteen inches away from the wall, and look in the opposite direction. While bending your knees, you need to lean backward so that your whole back rests against the wall. Now slide down the wall until your thighs are perpendicular to the ground in a sitting stance. The longer you can hold this position, the more beneficial the exercise.

Treadmills may be more preferred by people, though running outside is a much better work out. Running on the pavement is better in the winter than using an indoor treadmill.

Try counting backwards instead of forwards when you work out. For example, pick the number of repetitions you want to do and start there. This helps you know how many more you have left while keeping you motivated to finish.

m. schedule. Start gently by rising a quarter of an hour earlier. Then you can do a simple workout such as jumping rope, walking or following a short exercise video. Eventually you can swing this into a full 6 a.m. workout.

Fitness is more than physical. By starting to work out regularly, you can even feel better emotionally. The endorphins released during a workout can lead to a feeling of well being.

When you exercise and work out, you will start to gain confidence and improve your image of yourself. So in a sense, you are just a few workouts away from happiness.

Boost up the density of all your workouts to help you lose weight faster. You will shed more pounds if you push yourself to squeeze in more reps in a shorter time frame. Make these exercises "denser" by decreasing your breaks between intervals or eliminating them altogether between sets. You lose weight quicker doing this.

Fitness is not easy or always fun, but if you develop a program that corresponds to your interests and find a way to remain motivated, you will truly enjoy working out. You do not need to hurry to reach the finish line, and you do not need to do it all alone.

So to sum everything up, fitness isn't always a fun pursuit, and it's rarely easy. However, with the proper attitude and training, it can certainly be more of both. The only person you have to let down is yourself. The next step is to decide you are going to get started with your fitness program!
