Most people will always get a product with say an SPF of 45, and end up using only a quarter of the recommended amount just so they can save and scale the product. In order to get the best sun tan, you want to ensure that you apply your sun lotion or sun cream within the recommended time frame. Most people make a mistake of applying just when they are about to go outdoors, and forget reapplying thereafter. It is recommended that you apply at least an hour before going outdoors, and then reapply after 60 minutes out in the sun. This is especially important if you will be getting wet.

After getting out under the sun, the second application should be done after an hour or so, which should then be followed by subsequent applications at 2 hour intervals. To most people this could be too tall an order to make, but considering the level of protection one would be getting, and in order to ensure one gets the best sun tan, it is not so much trouble to take.

Finally, the best sun tan can only be got when one selects the right timing to go basking. Sun bathing when the sun is at its hottest i. E. Between noon and 3 pm may not be the wisest idea. This is because the intensity is quite strong and may cause more harm than good on the skin. Wearing protective clothing and ensuring one remains in shaded areas when the sun is extremely hot is strongly recommended for the best possible sun tan.
